many thanks for the previous answers regarding the sebenza lockbar - it seems there are few limits to the depths of knowledge found in this forum.
I notice on the part of the lockbar that engages with the tang of the blade it is polished and more closely finished. is this an insert of a harder metal to engage with the blade or is it just as it seems - a polished finish? I seem to remember reading that this part of the lockbar is specially hardened to diminish wear.

I don't think its any harder its just custom fitted to that particular tang.

The Sebenza lockbar (titanium) is locally hardened (with flame) to resist wear.

I use some of the CRK grease on the lockbar face with a new Sebenza, it helps the occassional sticking when unlocking the blade. This will go away after a few hundred open/close cycles.

many thanks, it continually amazes me how many tiny details there are in what on the surface appears to be such a plain and simple knife. Yes, I have already noticed its appreciably easier to open now than a week ago. Very tight when it comes - never rough.
