Another serrated edge question...

I'm sure this has been asked before but my searches came up dry...

What will happen if a full SE blade is periodically touched up using only a bench stone? Will the scallops eventually flatten yet maintain an effective cutting edge, or will it just ruin the blade (talking over the course of years, probably)? I'm considering trying this on an Endura ZDP blade, but don't want to ruin it.

Thanks.

Thanks XMT, that helps. Seemed like there would be a to keep a good working edge without going overboard with each serration. If treated like a plain edge, would there be a problem with getting / removing the burr on the indents?

depending on the shape of the serrations:
1. you could use slip stones (used to sharpen shaped chisels).
2. pieces of shaped wood with sandpaper wrapped around it (like dowel rods, wooden paint sticks or shingles/shims).

the good thing about the second method is that you can shape the wood to fit the serrations.

I think if you were to go slow enough with the right amount of pressure it would hit every part of the blade. TBH I do not own any SE'd knives this is just from stuff I read and SoLo gets knives nice and sharp and I doubt he would do anything to mess up his knives.
