Here is another full frontal sharkskin sheath for my Busse Jackhammer. I did this one with a Kenny Rowe style "pin lock" retention system.

As usual I make no claims to being a photographer, however these pics seem a little worse than usual. :o

Overall I like this one. As long as each sheath is an improvement over the last and I learn something I am happy.

Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions for improvement are welcome.

Nick

WoW! Fantastic work, I'm sure it will wear like Iron and last forever!

:D

Nice! Is the sharkskin still as abrasive as it naturally is? You didn't happen to find a stingray in his belly, did ya? ;)

Nice looking sheath, I might have to have a chat with you about something.

BTW, I'm a very long way from being a photographer but, a couple of suggestions.

Try and get more, diffuse light on the object, preferably from a couple of directions so you're not getting dark spots and shadows.

Also, lose the multicoloured background. What it tends to do, apart from anything else, is distract badly from the subject of the pic.

Other than that, great. :)

Looks great bro!

I picked up a small piece of sharh recently -- need to give it a try...

Really nice, Nick! Your work gets better and better! I like the pin retention on this one.

mhawg,

No, the sharkskin isn't as abrasive as I thought it would be. In fact it is quite nice. Nah..he didn't have a stingray in his belly. I am going to try working with some stingray when funds permit. Stingray presents some challenge as far as sewing goes.

gajinoz,

Thanks for the photo tips. I need to take some time and really try to work on some photography skills. I am going to try going through some of the photo tips on various forums and put them into practice.

Shoot me a PM or email if you need anything.

xaman,

Try that shark out man! I really like it. I have found that if I skive it down as thin as possible it is easier to work with. Since it has such a pronounced grain you can only get it so thin though. But it helps as far as sewing and burnishing the edges. I got this from a boot maker here in town.

The reason I am doing so many things in shark as of late is that I purchased a shark hide in hopes of doing some nice belts. Unfortunately the hide wasn't big enough for me to accomplish that the way I wanted to. So I was left with this whole shark hide. I decided to see what I could do with it. I still have a fair amount left so I am going to continue to put it to use. I am going to get another hide when I can afford it so I can make some belts and use the left overs for sheaths.

I'm glad so many folks like this one.

Nick, that really is a great looking sheath. Works beautifully for the Jackhammer. You're work is quite good. Any chance you make holsters?
