I like Bowie-style fixed blade knives, I don't know how else to say it or explain it. Folders just don't do it for me.

So when a Tech II showed up on the for-sale radar horizon, I couldn't think of a single reason I "needed" it, so I went ahead and "wanted" it.

It is yet another great addition to my SOG collection of fixed blade knives.

Now to get out in the field, find some piggies, and get 'em field dressed and skinned.

Cheers,

Carl

All in favour of a name change to New SOG Hunter say "Aye!"
Nice "little" SOG collection you've got going there!

List seems a little pricey!

...and no I did not have anything to do with the Canadian Armed Forces, though they made a good choice!!! :D :D :D

It would have been great if SOG-K appointed you ambassador to the Canadian Military.
Or perhaps the Canadian goverment ought to be notified on your excellent knowledge on SOG-K products.
Now wouldn't that be grand! :-)

Krizzard, out

So nice to see people who feel the same way about "my precious" ;)

My list to date includes the Tsunami, Government, Tech 1, X42 Recondo and Access Card. Except for the A/Card there's a general fixed blade trend. No big surprise then that I have my sights on a Seal 2000 for later this year.

Gotta love those SOGs!

Krizzard,

great picture you posted !! My own assortment of piggie skinners so far include the Bowie, Tech I, Tech II, Seal 2000, and an 'original version' Tigershark with SK-5 blade steel (which I recently blued).
All are nicely displayed on one end of the dining room table.

And this very morning the Tigershark swam past the office's flatbed scanner !! My pal wandered by..... his eyes popped wide open when he saw what was swimming under the cover, more effective than any caffeine jolt. He grabbed it, handled it, fondled it, drooled a bit, and pronounced it "...one heck of a great knife !!"

Cheers,

Carl

...The Tech I & Tech II...I'll never figure-out why SOG went and DC'd those two excellent knives!

They didn't REALLY discontinue the Tech II...;) they gave it serrations, powdercoat, and a zytel handle. They called it "SEAL 2000":D

I'm going on memory here, but didn't the Tech models also come with a classy brass hand-guard of some sort?

OK...Once more from the top:
"They didn't REALLY discontinue the Tech II...;) they gave it serrations, powdercoat, took away the brass crossguard, and gave it a zytel handle. They called it "SEAL 2000":D"
The brass crossguard would look strange on a SEAL knife...

Is that a truly-true statement, that the SEAL 2000 is "merely" a TECH II in camo, with a couple of reconfigurations ?? Blade steel the same, heat treat the same, etc etc ??

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. yesterday morning I met a retired Navy Master Chief wearing a Seal Team ballcap and asked him about it but he was not in the teams. He worked on the helo side of things, helping with air ops during SEAL training and such..... can't wait to sit him down and hear some stories !!

As far as I know, yes. You may want to confirm that with SOG...
Better yet, ;) buy a SEAL 2000, and compare them directly...:D

Bobby,

just more of a curiosity than anything else, really.

Too late: I already did get a SEAL 2000, and now just need to get some field time for the checkout !!!

Cheers,

Carl
