This one is another green canvas base micarta but with about a 28+% grind. It looks less but it is because of the way the blade is tilted to get better lighting. Photo skills I have not. This blade is about 59.5 HRc and is of CPM S30V.

Thanks for looking. Tonight and this morning I am HT'ing five more. One to have double dyed box elder burl, three highly figured ironwood, and one (another) green micarta. All in S30V except for a sixth to start next weekend that is to be of RWL-34. It will have high contrast ironwood and a hammer ended tang.

Temper,

You are very kind to me.

I just wish I could help you better on annealing those files. If only you were here in the States where postage wouldn't cost so much and someone could give me a good set of temperatures I'd do them for you. You had asked about sand. That may work okay. Sand is a good insolator for such stuff. The thick hot plates suggested by another is for slowing the cooling, not to help from warp. If just guessing I'd always go to non-magnetic and then just above that for a relatively short while. Then bury the steel in what ever insolates it from cooling. The only thing to gain is experience in the attempt and the only thing to loose is - is nothing. Just as Tom Edison kinda said: "I learned alot of things that did not work".

Roger, another Roger knife! Really nice, guy, and keep them coming. About your photo skills, I see nothing wrong with them. You GOOD, Roger!

damn nice Roger - What kind of micarta is that? I have a OD canvase micarta handle companion to finish this month. I was thinking of going to 220 grit. What do you recomend?

You guys keep me pumped. Thanks a bunch.

BL, it is green canvas base micarta I got from Sheffield Knife Supply. I palm swell the scales, after they are attached to the tang, on the horizontal edge grinder. I start with a 60 grit belt and machine finish with a 220 grit. I then hand contour the edges with files. After all that I hand finish to 600 grit and then (at last - finally) buff with matchless white compound I get from Pop's Knife Supply.
