I have two versions, a sabre grind and the flat grind (the flat was the original design). These two different versions really taught me the impact of the grind on the performance and use of a design. To me, the sabre grind makes an awesome "field knife" for general use. The FFG version has better cutting characteristics and I would say would perform better as a hunting knife.
My sabre version was part of a pass around during the relatively short time there was a JK forum on bushcraftusa. I think it went through somewhere around 5 people and got excellent feedback from everyone who handled it.
The design is basically my interpretation of an American drop point hunting knife and I have always been pleased with how John turned my sketch into steel.
