Another Spyder Hole???

Has anyone seen the latest issue of Blade? I was at the store the other day and I took a look at it, and on the cover was a pretty wicked knife called the Helix. It has some sort of trigger type stud to open it, but it also has a spyderhole! I skimmed the article and found no reference to the hole at all, and no mention of Spyderco. I didn't do a detailed reading, but I was wondering if anyone else has or if this is something Spyderco worked out with the design team of the helix.

Just wondering,

Garrett

I believe many of Joel's other designs use the hole opener. I'm not sure Allen has, but I vaguely remember him using them earlier.

I can't imagine Joel doesn't have a license for it, given his high profile, but you could always email him and ask.

I distinctly remember seeing Allen Elishewitz's name on Mr. Glesser's list......

At least I believe I did, LOL ! :)

Hi Allen,

Allen Elishewitz was one of the early licensees. Blade magazine (unfortunately) omitted the "trademark" information. (So much for their marketing and legal depts ;) .

It is a beautiful design and both Joel and Allen are to be commended.

LOL. ;) <----- indeed.

In the words of The Donald "you're (their legal/research is) fired."

I'm one of the lucky owners of a Helix and indeed, it is a most wonderful collaborative work.

Amazing piece well deserving of the cover of Blade, even though the very modest Mr. Pirela had not thought that either the cover nor the contents would focus so much on this knife.

Is Pat Crawdford on the list? (I asked him what was special about a particular KFF and he pointed and said the spyderhole)

Helix, any chance of you posting pics of your knife from different angles/perspectives? I loved the look of the one on blade and would love to see more of it.

Garageboy

I'm not sure if it is current, but Pat Crawford was one of the licenced users of the Spyder hole.
