I know...I know...be patient and take it one step at a time!!! Still, after seeing the new
Blue Native that I will soon be receiving in June (thanks Sal and Spark and Mike, I can't help but DREAM about a Calypso Junior in CORAL micarta and 440V AND a Wegner Junior in Forest Green G-10 and Vg-10!!!! Please make my dreams a reality!!!! Thanks, Jeffrey

We'll have to see if there is enough demand for it first.

Don't we already have #3, we have the Native(#1), the Matriarch(#2) and the Tie-Clip(#3).

I think #4 should be a re-release some of the other styles of kitchen knives Spyderco used to have

I like my women like I like my knives: strong, sharp, well-formed and pattern-welded!

... or make the blade out of Zytel?

For the next BF special, if there were to be one, go with one of the in house designs. THe native is inhouse (I think) and the BF special is a beaut!

I like many of SpyderCo's collaborations with custom makers. But, how to select one without, perhaps, by inference slighting the others? I know, I know... too sensitive and perhaps a little weird...

Anyway, Ron Knight's idea of RL Endura (or without the RL) ain't a bad place to start. The Endura is continuing favorite among Spydie fans. An inhouse design, tried and true. Why not that for the next BF Special, say with forest green g10, 440v, and the logo on the handle, "all God's little creatures have knives." Yeah, that's the ticket for an enduring, endearing Endura.

OK The next knife will be a Civillian without the Blade

Oh, another thing... If some got sticker shock from the souped up Native, they would feel more so for a BF special on one of more expensive in the line.

I would think the souped up endura cost would compare with the Native. A more slightly affordable alternative may be a souped up delica.

P.S. We are getting "zen-ish" with the bladeless knives.

I really like the first thing mentioned here, a customized BF Calypso Jr. I mean, despite the poor sales we hear about, isn't the micarta Calypso Jr the one knife everyone seems to love around here? My vote would be for white paper micarta like the Jess Horn's Spyderco did for AG Russell a while back, with a 440V blade and perhaps a little "something extra" like patterned holes through the handle or a convex grind.

Of course, Mr. Glesser, if you'd like to take the next logical step from custom collaborations into collaborations with unknown makers who are newbies to the forum, just drop me a line; I've got plenty of blade-hole designs just waiting for their big chance!

A modified Calypso Jr would be perfect for me as long is the blade is flat ground and plain edge is an option. I've been thinking of buying another of the black micarta ones to have as a back up if they go out of production. Since a zytel/VG10 version seems to be in the works I would think that a rehandled version (similar to what was done to the Native for BF) would be fairly easy. After recently getting my Moran Featherweight I'm starting to like VG10. If a VG10 Calypso Jr would cut even close to the Featherweight I would be ecstatic.

If you are looking to know what the third or fourth or fifth BladeForums knife would be (and I don't know that anybody is), then the Calypso Jr would be my vote in G10 or white micarta or coral micarta or whatever Spyderco could come up with.

Enough begging, just my .02.

A knife without a blade does already exist. It is made by victorinox. So if Sal decides to make a special run maybe this will open a new section in my collection.
By the way there should be no more troubles at the airport. My wife would definitely appreciate it.

Hey, I do not like the Calypso Jr. I have large paws that sport huge oversize ugly impact-enhanced knuckels and wear a size ten.five glove. I do not like how my hand rest on the choil as it is so hard to sew my fingers back on while out and about.

I am not really a fan of the Native, maybe I will be when I see the BladeForum special, but I am a tred and true fan of the Endura. It is what I carry. I have owned perhaps fifty one hand knives in the past five years, I am carrying my eighth Endura. I like the idea of a custom Endura. G-10 in Green? Sure, or maybe....440V blade, pre-98 handle shape?...I do not like the 98 clip, but I may learn, which is why I love the pre-98 handle.. like those guys who prefer a pre-64 winchester (big compliment , Sal) Full serration, why screw around here,

Green Micarta or Black Micarta handle, tip up carry, steel clip, purchased in sets or separately righty and lefty? no inscription on the knife, let it talk for itself...can micarta have the pre-98 clip molded from it? I would carry this piece proudly and use it daily. Price, around $150.00 or less...ideas please

How about set of 2 Endura, one with 440V blade as described above, one with G-10 handle, mechanism and blade?

Corduroy - We're always looking at designs. Sometimes they're great and work their way in sooner? But for the most part, right now we're cooling it on the newer stuff so we can get a better handle on what we've got.
We simpply have too much going to be able to do it all well.

"Concept Models" will be rolling out of R&D at one a week, but most will never see production. Some may be seen at some shows where we show them for ELU opinion.

We need to get the SpydeRench out on time. We have two new sharpeners, a dozen variations, additional collaborations and even a totally new concept in folding knives all needing time and money.

Sal, what´s the chance that we (BF) get so see some of the prototypes you mentioned here on BF?

A Civilian with no blade? Can you imagine the confusion at the airport or courthouse?

Pelle - Prototypes are not a problem to show (except for the photo part, which we could always send to Mike). "Concept Models" create more of a problem.

Spyderco has been heavily criticized by many for the "long time between announcing new models and delivery". Analysis of this problem revealed two sources:

1) Original production runs do not meet with our quality specs and are postponed until we can sort out the problems.

2) Magazines or Internet sites take photos of "Concept Models" and announce them as "new Models" when in fact there has been no decision made to produce the "Concept" or production is too far off to be making such an announcement.

Our new policiy is that "Concept Models" cannot be photographed by anyone. We show them at Shows for opinion only. Showing "Concepty Models" like the Credit card piece, The Martial Folder or ? can only increase the criticizm.
