A little more than a month ago, I acquired a SIGG Steelworks stainless steel bottle. The SIGG Steelworks bottle looks just like the SIGG aluminum bottles, but the Steelworks bottles are 18/8 stainless steel, and come with a flat cap that has a steel bail/loop. It has a 1 liter capacity.
I have been using the bottle since I got it to ferry cool/cold tea to work. The 1 liter capacity seems to work well for me. My 27 oz Klean Kanteen often left me a little short on tea, whereas my 40 oz Klean Kanteen more often yielded a surplus.
The bottle has the standard SIGG 1" opening. I can get the ice cubes our freezer makes into the bottle, but the opening will not be friendly to most standard size/shape ice cubes. I find the smaller opening easier to drink out of than the larger opening on the Klean Kanteen and Guyot bottles.
I haven't had a chance to place it in a campfire to boil water, but I imagine it will work as well as the Klean Kanteen or Guyot bottles. I did buy a black bottle, which does readily absorb sunlight for warming water. I have used the bottle to make a little 'sun tea' this past weekend.
I like this bottle. It was a litte more expensive than the 40 oz Klean Kanteen, but was about in the same ballpark as the Guyot bottle. It also has a sort of 'coolness' factor to it, too, I think. I have always been attracted to SIGG bottles, but was never too keen on the aluminum prospect, despite all the safety disclaimers.
Finally, it fits comfortably in the Maxpedition 10x4 bottle holder.
Thanks for looking.
