I've heard angles arent as important on a strop as long as it isn't completely vertical. Is this true or have I been misled?

I attempt to strop at pretty much the same bevel angle as it is sharpened.

I have always stropped at my sharpening angle, stropping is just very fine sharpening.

Well since I use a belt that I hold on the floor with my foot and in my hand, I go about flat and then it evens out to be about the edge I sharpened at. On my wood handled one, I will say that I go at about the same angle I sharpened. Maybe a bit less if I push the tiniest bit harder. I think it is true what you were told, just when you get more into it then things change.
