I have a double sided stropping paddle and as of today I have two different compounds, one is the green Veritas block that I purchased with my strop and today as I was purchasing 320, 600, and 1200 grit paper for my convex ground BRKT knife I also bought a tube of TORMEK PA-70 HONING COMPOUND.

I have one side of my strop loaded up with the Veritas and am wondering if I should use the Tormek on the other side? If I did use it which side would I use first or in other words which of the two compounds is the finest?

Thanks again.

the green should be a finer compound and should be used in the last step as for the other one do you know the micron rating or grit

Like Knifenut, I don;t know what that Tormex grit is. Black could be used before the green, if you're so inclined.

I'd go easy on the 320 and 600 grit paper with your Barkies (unless you've had them awhile and they're dull as a tree branch). I use 1000, 1500, and 2000 and I have yet to need to go below 1000. Now, that includes two of my BRKT's that came with the edge near the tips sloppily ground. The 1000, in fact the 1500, did just fine.

Go easy with that low-grit paper, I would say. You might use that for some other project that doesn;t include knife blades. Or maybe save it for when you want to re-bevel the edge of one of your v-grind knife edges.

Wow you guys are precise. I just use a barbers strop (exact duplicate of what was used with those straight razors ;)). It works just fine for me....

Typically black before the green, green before the white. Colors don't necessarily coincide with grit but it's a good starting point.
