Another successful corruption!

So I have this great old Spyderco Native, PlainEdge, that I've carried pretty much exclusively for about a year, ever since I broke the clip on my Endura and my Delica was confiscated. I love the handle ergonomics, it's easy to sharpen and re-profile (one of my friends decided she was going to throw it into the road -- hard -- open -- tip snapped off and I was forced to re-shape it with a bench stone, but it looks pretty much good as new) and it's a great little knife overall.

I recently got a new toy and converted my old Native to left-handed for secondary carry. One day I showed it to one of my good friends, who is left-handed, showing off how easy it was to open, how safe it was to close because of the nice deep integral choil, etc., etc.. She isn't a knife knut like me, she has a nice SAK but doesn't usually carry a pocket knife everywhere. I ended up loaning my Native to her so that she could see if she liked it enough to buy one of her own.

I'm never getting it back.

Whenever I see her, she now has the Native clipped to her left front pocket. She said she always carries it as long as she has a pocket to put it in! Also she admits that she's been opening and closing it sitting at her desk at work, just because it's fun, and doesn't seem to disturb anyone. And it's always nice to know that you'll be able to cut something if you need to. She likes it so much that I told her I'd sell it to her for a coin (old traditions die hard).. small price to pay to see another person who is comfortable and happy carrying my old knife.

I'm an evil little bunny. I'm also gonna be broke if I keep corrupting people like this.. oh well. It does give me an excuse to pick up one of the new ones in CPM440v.

(This post probably makes me the Princess of Pointless Stories or something, but I just thought I'd share the good news.)

Novadak,

1. It's nice to "see" another "Washington State knife knut" here on BladeForums.

.

2. You just GOTTA get yourself another Native! I have a Stainless Native II, with the 40% serrated blade, and that is my FAVORITE folder...by far!.

3. Sorry to hear that your Delica was "confiscated"...Would you like to "share" the details with us????

Hey Glockman, if you picked that Native up at the show in Tacoma I think I may have been looking at the same knife -- not too crazy about the SS handles though, I prefer the lightweight models.. I'm definitely getting one of the new ones, though.

As for the Delica.. I went to a concert at this club in Seattle, I guess I got jostled around enough that my Delica, which was my keychain at the time, fell out of my pocket. I wandered around looking for it after the show and finally walked up to ask the bouncers if they'd found my keys. The guy said, "Uh, yeah, you can have your _keys_ back." I suspect he just liked my knife and kept it for himself, he claimed "you can't take a knife like that into a club". I didn't argue as much as I should have, but I have enough sense to not pick fights with guys a lot bigger than me, so..

Besides, getting knifeless people properly equipped is a subset of "clothing the naked," one of the classic Good Deeds.

Novadak,

Yup!...That's exactly where I got my Spyderco Native II.

I traded the dude a "used" (full-serrated blade) Wegner Jr. for it, as I needed a "Lefty" folder. (The "Native" was "brand-new"...I'm VERY happy with the trade.).

Get yourself the Lightweight Native with the 440V blade, you won't regret it.
