So I have this great old Spyderco Native, PlainEdge, that I've carried pretty much exclusively for about a year, ever since I broke the clip on my Endura and my Delica was confiscated. I love the handle ergonomics, it's easy to sharpen and re-profile (one of my friends decided she was going to throw it into the road -- hard -- open -- tip snapped off and I was forced to re-shape it with a bench stone, but it looks pretty much good as new) and it's a great little knife overall.
I recently got a new toy and converted my old Native to left-handed for secondary carry. One day I showed it to one of my good friends, who is left-handed, showing off how easy it was to open, how safe it was to close because of the nice deep integral choil, etc., etc.. She isn't a knife knut like me, she has a nice SAK but doesn't usually carry a pocket knife everywhere. I ended up loaning my Native to her so that she could see if she liked it enough to buy one of her own.
I'm never getting it back.
Whenever I see her, she now has the Native clipped to her left front pocket. She said she always carries it as long as she has a pocket to put it in! Also she admits that she's been opening and closing it sitting at her desk at work, just because it's fun, and doesn't seem to disturb anyone. And it's always nice to know that you'll be able to cut something if you need to. She likes it so much that I told her I'd sell it to her for a coin (old traditions die hard).. small price to pay to see another person who is comfortable and happy carrying my old knife.
I'm an evil little bunny. I'm also gonna be broke if I keep corrupting people like this.. oh well. It does give me an excuse to pick up one of the new ones in CPM440v.
(This post probably makes me the Princess of Pointless Stories or something, but I just thought I'd share the good news.)
