I've had this for going on a couple of years know and I don't think it's been posted or really seen before....never took any pictures of it until today. :)

It's a really incredible piece for it's elegance, simplicity, and wonderful execution along with extraordinary balance and amazing swiftness in-hand....it weighs little and is scalpel sharp. It's 18 1/4" OAL with a 12" W2 blade sporting a World Class Hamon. The Menuki are staggered from one side of the handle to the other and set over 'rayskin covered with an ito wrap. This piece also has Stuart's Japanese signature.... :)

As always, Stuarts leather is absolutely 1st Class...almost as fine as his knives...almost. ;)

Please forgive me for the crappy photo attempts of the incredible Hamon but it'll give but an idea of how fine it is.

sh2126.jpg You guys crack me up. I thought naginata as well, but the profile of a naginata is often much wider.

It's like a nice dha, but shorter! Haven't seen one with a hamon, but there's always a first time.

The CAS Banshee was inspired by the dha and it's siblings. There is also the sweep of the Dao in Stuart's creation, these swords are related.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I like it, even though it looks more like Fogg's Cloud Cutter than anything traditional. It is still a hell of a piece of smithing and cutlery. I love a good dao, most especially!
