I was lucky enough to get some apprentice blanks. Would it be ok to put the talon hole on these? and what about a makers mark?
Thanks You for your time Sir.

I would be curious to know how you are going to put the hole in if they have been heat treated, they would be "Harder than the hubs of hell!"

Bob,

The 5160 blanks were used for training our apprentice knifemakers how to grind. They never had the Busse Registered Trademark front guard hole because they were never sold or marketed as "Busse's". Most of our knives come without a lasered "Busse Combat" maker's mark on the blade because the front guard hole serves as the maker's mark for Busse Combat.

So, in light of this, the answer to your question as to whether or not it would be ok to use the Busse front guard hole, the answer would be "NO".

I'm a bit confused as to what you mean by a "maker's mark". Do you mean that you want to put our mark on these blades, or your own mark? If it is our mark, then of course the answer is also "NO". The only relationship that these blades have to Busse Combat is that we had them laser cut with the same blade shapes as some of our older blades. They are not Busses and therefore, the Busse Combat name should not be used when marketing these blades after they have been manufactured by another maker.

The blade blanks are fully annealed and do not carry our heat treat.

Busse Combat has never sold or marketed any 5160 steel blades under the Busse name.

Good luck with your project and we wish you well,

Thanks Mr. Busse
I didn't mean to put the Busse Combat logo on them I ment my mark. None of these are going to be sold, their like a rare find and will stay in the family. Sorry for my vageness I would not try to pass them as Busse Blades ever!!!!
I had to ask about the talon hole because I had too I figured I knew the answer but if you don't try ;) you never know.
Thanks allot
Peace

Fogo De Chao, it's a Restraunt. Similar to Texas de Brazil here in Dallas. They come around and serve you different meats right off the stick. It is an Atkins paradise. Never been to Fogo, but my company frequents Texas de Brazil. It is costly though and the bananas they serve are supposed to clear the taste buds, but I never use 'em, they just end up taking up space in the belly that I reserve for meat!
