You might find this interesting. . .

FYI: This helluva user is called Mead Pard Tarn.
  • Mead = Knife
  • Pard = Cut or Slice
  • Tarn = Name of our local tropical fruit Toddy Palm.

As the name imply; this blade is primarily designed to be used to cut the flower of a Toddy Palm for its sweet nectar. This nectar will then be processed to become: toddy palm sugar, beverage or native wine.

:D

(Four more of the most popular Thai blade tools are in my signature link: E-Nep, E-To, Phra and Grass Chopper.)

That's a pretty good looking knife, Santi. Kind of reminds me of the Smatchet, except the handle isn't centered. How long is the blade. Is it sharpened on both sides? Can I assume hand-forged froma a car spring, or similar metal?

Looks like a very effective knife. Thanks for sharing the picture.

Thanks for the interesting pic, Santi. That looks like a pretty cool knife. Kinda reminds me of a cross between a Mediterranean dirk and a barong. :)

Blade is about 11" :D
Yes, sharpen on bothe side. Flat grind.
Not sure about the metal. It's a gift from a friend. ;) But it looks like stock-removal. ;)

I like the sheath. Why does it extend under the handle?

That's just what I was wondering. May be it's just decorative stuff?
