FYI: This is called Suer Sonh Leb.

  • Suer, n. = Tiger
  • Sonh, v. = Hide
  • Leb, n. = Finger Nail (litterally); in this context = "Claw."

It could be big or small. This little one is just an example.

I've always liked that style of knife/knives.
I must say that is the nicest set i've seen tho.

Nice. Very nice.

Be interesting to carry. double fixed blade "pocket" knives.
Togather I wonder if they would be useable as a yawara/pocket stick.

My mother has something similar that sits in her kitchen drawer. They picked it up 30-some-odd years ago when we(meaning Dad and family) were stationed in Yokahama, Japan. Hers is larger, with each blade running in the 4-5" range if I remember right, and the wood is of a light color, with a black spacer on each handle where the two meet. Until now I have always just thought of them as steak knives( that is on the rare occasions that they see use)!!! Thank you for the pics, I had forgotten all about them until now.

Take care.
