Hey all. Wish i could make this into a vote thing but don't know how. If money wasn't an issue would you rather have a 154cm bm griptilian, or a s30v kershaw blur? Been struggling with this the last few and can't afford both.

What will you use it for? What other knives do you currently own? Personally, I'd rather have an Axis lock than the liner lock. Though I've been carrying my mini-cylone more often than any of my Axis knives lately, if i did have to choose one or the other, I'd go with the Axis.

I like Benchmade... My opinion would be strongly biased for no reason :D

This will be my one and only EDC. Sure i've gotten addicted already just being on this site the last week, but this 60k grad school bill i'm bout to take on prevents me from buying more than one decent knife. I had the tanto blur from walmart and decided I didn't want the serrated OR the tanto so i returned it. the benchmade seemed like it had such smooth action. the blur was fast as hell but seemed like that quick action just covered up lack of smooth action. sure the aluminum SEEMS nicer than the plastic (or fiberglass nylon something) but I think the plastic might hold up better, it does on my glock. it seems from reading that the 154 cm is not quite as good as s30v.

well my grip is the shit. i use it with my alias. and the 154 cm, dont worry bout it. i can get it hair whittling sharp adn it takes a better edge than my s30v blades by just a little, though it wont hold asssssss long. unless ur gonna be using it hardcore, then the 154 is fine/ if it is hardcore use, then it would still be the grip cause i dont trust linear locks. my .02

Good luck on that. I know you won't believe us, but you'll end up getting many more. 154cm is fine for a steel. Don't get caught up in all the latest greatest steels, at least not yet. After purchasing many different knives of various steels, I've come to to the realize that I'm perfectly happy with a cheap steel like AUS 8; it cuts things and is easy to sharpen.

154CM probably won't hold an edge as long as S30V.
154CM may arguably take a keener edge. Opinions vary.

To me the Blur blade shape is prettier, but I think the grip has a more useful blade shape, and an edge that is easier to sharpen because it has no recurve.

If I were only going to have one EDC and were choosing between those two, I would take the grip for the axis lock and the blade shape.

Truth be told, I think this is a personal choice and I do not think there is a wrong answer.

I have both and prefer the S30V Blur...;)

Ray :)

I liked my SG2 Blur better than any of my Grips, but the benchmade would be easier to clean and maintain. It will also be easier to sharpen. Why don't you save a little more and get the Grip plus the regular Sandvic Blur. I really like that steel and actually prefer it over S30V.
