Never really liked blades that have no thumbstuds. They look for me like they "have got no eyes, are blind, void, too simple" without it. Anybody experiencing same? Have you managed to get over it? I always have this weird feel like i need to screw thumbstuds into my f3 shiro.

Flippers are a phase I think. After you get either thumb stud or spydie holes there's nothing much better imho.

Flippers or Cutouts/Holes for me, thumb studs are alright but are my least favorite.

I find that the wild flipping pocketpecker (Transilium ficedulae sinum) has eyes and personality, even without a thumb stud.

After I bought PM2, I dont want to use a thumb stud ever in my life.
Why would you want some piece of metal to be placed perpendicular to your blade? I want my blade to do what it is meant to do-cutting, not blocking (damm thumb stud, why you are there?!) the object I want to cut.

Spydiehole for the win!

Lol. That's exactly how I feel and that's not changing.

I stay away from

-flipper only
-bearings
-a/o

I do like thumbstuds, but they should not be in the cutting path.

I'm a thumb hole/ stud guy. The reason the XM 18 is perfect for me is both options for easy use in all conditions.

I like thumb studs but certainly don't miss them as long as there's another way to open the knife.

I prefer the aesthetics of blade without things sticking out from it like studs and flippers. Even nail nicks and blade etching annoy me. I recognize the utility of opening aids like studs and holes, but to me, they distract from the beauty of the blade.

I wouldnt buy a thumbstud knife, just dont like the protrusion. Spydie holes are alright. Most of my non fixed are slips with nail nicks, long pulls etc.
