When I finish grinding a blade I take my Dremel tool and use a paper sanding disc on a mandrel and clean up the shoulders I use to use two discs but have since taken a piece of phenolic 1/64" thick and made a backing for the discs gives it some support. It helps with removing the little scratches and evens the shoulders up a lot faster than using sandpaper and a file.

I use to buy the discs but I made a cutter the same size as the phenolic disc out of black iron pipe and sharpened one end down on the sander it cuts the paper easily and it saves lots of $ Dremel discs costs about $3.00 for 20 discs ....

I use milk bottles as my back up for the paper. I just stack them to the stiffness I want ... This is a great tip. Waste not want not.

The phenolic backing is great idea. I use the disks quite frequently and what I was doing was placing 2 or 3 disks on the mandrel.

That is whatI used to use and I went through several packages fo the discs . I found this Phenolic at a local supply store and I use it for knife patterns it is thin and flexable , and quite cheap
