Sears Craftsman #9494. My records identify it as an Ulster #63 Whittler's Knife. 1959 - 19??
Very similar to the Camillus 72
Schrade and Ulsters were made in the same plant in Ellenville when Baer moved Schrade production there after the Walden plant burned down. And the Schrade 863.
I carry a 72 quite a bit. I noticed the secondary clip and coping blade look a little more stout on the Ulster. Is this the case or am I just imagining things. Also, is the main clip blade ground the same as a 72. Nice looking knife. I'll have to see if I can track one down. Thanks.
The small clips are just a bit different. The coping blade on the Ulster is much wider. The main clips' grinds are the same but the blades are still a bit different with the swedge on the Ulster being longer resulting in less edge curve toward the distal end (the opposite is true of the secondary clips regarding curve). The one thing this knife lacks is any blade with a real belly. The original Camillus had a spear pen vs a secondary clip so that knife did offer a blade with some belly.
That's the better pattern. Don't know why Camillus changed it.Here is one with a pen blade secondary. This is a 1946 Camillus 72....
