For those of you that carry your Umnumzaan in waistband, is it comfortable? I have a few knives that I love but cannot carry them IWB because some stylish bit of the handle digs in and becomes uncomfortable within a few hours.

My small Sebenza 21 carries nice, so I assume the large would as well.

Can you please let me know if the Umnumzaan is comfortable?

Thanks,

I just checked and it carries fine, though I would recommend tip down knives for IWB carry.

Hi Josh, thanks.

I'd need to hear from someone that does it all day every day. I have a Benchmade Mini Dejavoo that is comfortable for 2-3 hours but by the end of the day the finger/thumb guards (top and bottom) just become unbearable.

Thanks again,

It is comfortable, though I usually carry mine in the back corner of my pocket.

Hi Derrick,

Have you carried it all day IWB? I'd hate to spend $400 on a knife to find out that after about 3 hours it just 'rubs me the wrong way' :( :D

Thanks,

I carry this way often, and will admit that after a few hours having a 4" knife stuck behind your waistband can get a mite uncomfortable. Of course, I could loose a couple of pounds and in this instance I'm stuck in an office chair most of the day. I've never had an issue with regular pocket carry of a large Seb or Umnum all day. As much I love my large Sebenza's, in environments like mine (often an office), a small carries better in your pocket.

Maybe I don't understand, but why would you want to carry it in your waistband instead of a pocket?

Because I am fresh out of pockets in which to carry a knife.

LF - Keys, Flashlight, small swiss army knife (too much in this pocket already)
RF - Firearm, nothing else even if I am not carrying that day (not an option)
LR - iPhone / handkerchief (knife would destroy iPhone)
RR - wallet (knife/wallet together would be too much bulk)

That leaves me with IWB.

IWB with the clip under the belt is easily available but invisible Clipped to a pocket is illegal, for example, in NYC, where knives must be completely concealed.

Also, knives can be pulled from a pocket or drop out but IWB stays in place.

I've had a few Umnums--in my opinion, it's too long for comfortable IWB carry. I think the 3.5" Hinderer is the biggest knife that is comfortable for IWB carry. Definitely go with a small Sebenza if this is how you carry.

I have a small Sebenza, IWB right now. Love that knife. Looking for something more substantial and I am considering the Large Seb and the Umnumzaan.

I can carry a Spyderco Para-Miltary (4.8" handle) comfortably all day (gotta get the angle right). It is really all about shape and hot spots. Small pointy parts that get uncomfortable after a while.
