Hi all,
One of my edc's is a full serrated folder. I rarely use it, but carry it anyway when I have the dogs with me. My wife and I own, breed and train retrievers(flat-coated) both for the ring and field. The other day we were on a scouting trip to evaluate a new training area. We had the dogs on lead with the dogs wearing their buckle collars. We had to walk through a small wooded area that appeared to be an old field that was once a pasture. Previous owner had abandoned the field as it was an odd size and was approximately five acres in size. As we approached entry into the field that we wanted to scout, we ran into an old woven wire fence with sections partially still upright and sections that were down on the ground. My older bitch cleared the fence with no problems. My younger boy, eager to follow, tried to follow the older dog's lead. He got about halfways up the fence when his collar became entangled in the fence with the buckle itself caught in the fence. He started yapping, not out of fear but out of frustration. I took out my serrated folder and in a snap, cut the collar. He was not in any real danger but very well could have been if not for me carrying that particular folder. My other folder, a BM grip, could have done the job but would have taken a little longer to cut through the collar. Just thought to share this story with y'all.
