Another vintage folding knife

The external back spring and overall look recall the Okapi ratchet knives. The long leaf-shaped blade looks a lot better than the current Okapi’s clip. The external spring is an old design that used to show up a lot more often than it does today.
 
French. You sometimes see them etched "Le Compagnon des Tranchees" and being sold as WWI knives. It is hard to to tell when these actually date to because the French cataloged these huge ring pull clasp knives for a long time. See here -

Thanks tltt! That's exactly the type of info I was looking for. My great uncle brought back a few souvenirs from WWI. I'm now thinking this knife was one of them. The best piece he brought back was a German bayonet.
