...but that didn't stop us!

Even a roadblock wouldn't stop us.

We finally got some trees and quiet.

RokJok splits some wood to get the fire started.

Nice. Very nice.

The finishing touches are added to the shelter.

River 8's brother enjoys the fire while River 8 and River 7 check the nutritional contents of our survival rations.

More to come...

A couple pics back at the EOC.

I'm glad that you made the trip down, RokJok. Looking forward to next time. :D

Whats all that white stuff all over the ground???
And, wassup with that gooooofy grin?:D ;)

Gotta make it to one of these someday! Looks like you guys are having a good time.

We've got tons of the wet stuff, plus howling wind galore down here on the Coast, but the white stuff is proving to be far, far more elusive... :grumpy:

Wassup with all the pixelation? :D

My thanks to River 8, River 7, River Bro, and the inimitable 360Joules for a great day in the great (soggy) outdoors. That fire felt s-o-o-o good. :) Special thanks to River8 for the loan of his kukri for a bit of comparative chopping.

The variability of the weather was delightful. It ranged among bucket-dumping rain, heavy drizzling rain, deluging rain, p*$$ing down rain, "call Noah, I think he knows what to do in this situation" rain, better flow-rate than my shower at home rain, and "just launch the lifeboats to get us out of here" rain.

Good times..... Good times.....

Favorite quote of the day:
"We couldn't swing a dead cat out here without hitting fatwood."

(edit to add) River7 proved that a woman who carries a CT (even if it does have a PINK streamer on it  ) can wear any kind of hat she wants with impunity. ;) :D

I also learned two things about flying Rats:

1. people who throw their Rats seem to spend a lot of their time retrieving them from back in the bushes, on the ground in front of the tree it bounced off of, out in the snow, off behind the tree, etc.

2. Those bright streamers they put on their Rat handles are needed to find the knife back in the bushes, out in the snow, etc. etc.

360,

I am concerned about that RW being in such a wet environment. It is a high carbon steel, you know. Better send that thing down here. It hasn't rained here since Sunday. :D

Nice pics! Looks like y'all had a great, if soggy, time. :D What kind of temps were you dealing with?

Thanks for sharing the pictures. 8 does look surprisingly cheerful doesn't he?

Glad you could make it RokJok. On the other hand, I am depressed that I coudn't...

I hope to be seeing some of that in about a week and a half.

What happens in a week and a half?

Looking at The Weather Channel, I'd say that they're getting dumped on with lots of that wet stuff..

Hows the pack holding out,360?

Pretty darn good Scales...I call it my "trunk". :D In a few days I hope to post some pics of some tweaks ala River 8. Good stuff!
