Greetings folks! This wood really has me stumped and I thought maybe someone here might recognize it. Orange/rust with dark brown and yellow. Definitely not cocobolo but other than that I'm clueless.

Stacy that was my feeling too, the pores are classic rosewood. I had considered Caribbean rosewood as well but it's just so much more vibrant than other examples I've worked with. It was a sample block that was from the days I worked at Canal Street Cutlery. No label and I never thought to ask what it was lol! Here's another shot, straight off the buff.

What color is the sawdust?

Does it have a smell when being sanded?

The wood generally listed as Caribbean rosewood is Chechen, not a true rosewood/ member of the dalbergia species.

No noticeable odor that I can recall although its been a couple of weeks and I was cutting a few other woods at the same time so I'm not positive on that. Sawdust was an orangish tan.
