Needed to blow off some steam this week so I grabbed a spare set of scales, some 5160, and went to work! There is a common question when the BK2 comes up and that is usually what would it be like if the blade was longer? Well it the BK2 blade is taken out to 8 1/4inches, it is a lot of fun!!!!! :D Admittedly, it is nose heavy with all that steel in the spine but it is still manageable at 21oz. Very similar weight/feel to the BK3 but with a drop point. I kinda dig it but to be honest, I think I went too long with it. Something in the 7inch range would work a little better I think. You'd still have plenty of heft but it would shed some ounces and come back from a pure chopper mode to something a little more general purpose. Here is a quick pic with a BK9 and a BK2 for comparison. Enjoy :)

Very cool. Has always been on my list: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...s-BK9-w-BK2-Front-End?p=10499492#post10499492

Sweet!!! That is so cool. Make it out of 3/16" and I think thats just about my perfect camp knife!

Hahaha nice!! Your a damn nut! Love it! Hopefully you'll have it around for the next camping trip.

Very knice!

It is along the lines of my idea to have a BK20 scaled down to split the difference in size between the BK 20 and the BK2, retaining the .250" thickness and BK20 shape. You did what I like to call the same thing - only different and went with the great shape of the BK2.

Very nicely done, Sir, very knice indeed.

Would love a longer BK2, that looks to be a beast at 8-1/4", 6-7" range sounds good to me.

I would be thrilled with a BK2 the size of my Fat Ash, around 6.5" and .25 thick.

Fat Ash 6.5" blade/BK2 5.25" blade.

I want to play with that!!!

Ah, not bad, I could forgo the choil and even the jimping.
But yeah, that is nice.

The Fat Ash had a choil, so I thought you'd like it, haha. Here was my final rendering on that thread:

Yeah, I can take or leave it on a knife that size, I like one on large knives but 7" and under, it's meh, don't really need it and if I could buy it without a choil, I probably would.
But I would still buy your final rendering, the BK2 is one of my favorites but that might push it to the top.

Get KaBar on this - I think they'll need more than 450 of those.

I had suggested previously that if they do produce such a knife that it would be short, but not too short, strong, stocky and sexy ... thinking they could perhaps call it the SALTY Edition.:cool:

Incredible work. I actually like the looks of that better than the 9 or 20!
