Had another nice hike today, enjoying a day off during the holiday season. It was pretty chilly... minus 18 degrees C (approx zero degrees F).
Had lots of layers of wool to keep warm... some heavy Ibex long-johns and Filson whipcord pants on my legs, and a few layers of merino wool on my upper body topped off with a heavy Mufflon boiled wool jacket
Here are some scenery pics:
And a few more:
There was a nice beaver lodge and dam (I made the beaver dam black & white, as the contrast of the snow with the dark logs looked interesting):
Stopped to boil some water for some pine tea on the Honey stove, as usual. The water in the cup froze over in the few minutes that it took to assemble the stove... a thin layer of ice in about 3 minutes:
Kept my hands warm with mittens from Empire Canvas; they're the only things that have worked for me. I wear the outer canvas/leather layer, the wool liners, and then an inner layer of Dachstein wool mitts.
The blades of the day were my Busse Boss Jack, and an Ed Caffrey EBK1 which I keep in my front pocket rather than a folder:
