I got to go out and spend some time out in the trees today! It was nice and refreshing to get out, have some fun and play with cutlery!

A nice view before i left the trail and went my own way. Then proceeded to drop my camera in the snow..So now my pics are half a$$ blurry..i'm sorry dudes...

Winter wonderland..iit was a balmy -14 C today

High bush cranberries are nice and sweet after the first frost falls..

I brought my RC 4 along to compare against my spyderco bushcraft

Another winter wonderland pic

decemberbushcraft007.jpg

I found a nice little spot under a spruce tree that provided cover from elements. I took some bark from a dead cotton wood to keep my fire off of the cold frozen ground and proceeded to collect some kindling and firewood from dead standing timber. I used my Buck saw and my wetterlings wildlife hatchet for these tasks.:)

I used the heartwood from some of the firewood i cut for feathersticks, i used the bushy for this.

More coming!!!

I couldnt resist..but the damn camera focused on the spruce tree behind the knife...

decemberbushcraft012.jpg

After some prepairation i was set up to start the fire and cook lunch! I used birch bark as tinder and lit the fire with 1 strike from my UST strikeforce firesteel..this thing rocks!

decemberbushcraft014.jpg

FIRE!!!

decemberbushcraft015.jpg

Once i had the fire stoked up, i made some strawberry vanilla tea in my aluminum GI cup ,some sausages and a baroque for lunch..all wrapped up in tin foil...for those who dont know a baroque is made of home made bread, stuffed with seasonings, vedgies and ground beef..damn good eating.

A few more pics coming guys then a heads up test between the RC 4 and the spyderco Bushy

Nice thread, thanks for posting. That sausage looks good.....not like nasty SPAM (Blech!). Very pretty area you have there. I love being in softwoods, especially in the snow. It just seems so majestic! Looks like you are covered in the edged tools department.

aaaaaaaah right on Bro!:thumbup: wicked pics!

I too took my bushy for a walk today, with the GF's daughter. Daytrip details/knife review soon, will post a link

Here are some nice winter pics for you guys...this is proof that you can find heaven on earth.

Here is another blurry pic that was supposed to be cool.

decemberbushcraft031.jpg

Birds nests are like natures tinder pile...i found one and it was nice and dry, so i proceeded to light it.

decemberbushcraft032.jpg

After a few strikes from my firesteel it lit, but i couldnt get it to take, so i switched to my zippo and the nest lit up no problem..i am confident that the next could be lit with the firesteel without issue if i prepaired it better than i did. I just pulled the nest from the tree and went at it with the firesteel..likei said it DID catch fire but it didnt stay lit.

okay, so now it is time for the comparo of the RC 4 VS the syperco bushy and my camera batteries ran out of juice...i dont have spares..nice hey? ANYWAY! I was bound on making a tripod for my firepit at home. So i went to the river bank and found a nice patch of willows that were strait and about an 1.5 inches thick. I bent one of the willows and proceeded to cut it with the RC 4..I had to work at it, but wasnt suprised because the willows were frozen..my RC 4 is blazing sharp, so that wasnt an issue either...so i finally get this willow cut down and i pull out the bushy to cut the second one..OMG what a difference! 3 good slices and I was throw the willow...i did have to chew at it, hack it, nothing...that bushy blew the RC 4 out of the water! It took much less effort and work to cut the willow down that the RC 4 did...so to comfirm what i was very suprised at I cut the 3rd willow down with the RC 4..same result..the spyderco was far superior..That scandi grind cant be beat.

The spyderco bushcraft is a beautiful knife that functions really really well... I couldnt be happier...this doesnt rule out any other knife from being an excellent functional bushcraft knife..this is me just saying that spyderco sent this one over the fence..The spyderco bushcraft is awesome.

hope you enjoyed the pics! I will post pics of the tripod once i get it built!\

You , me and Bushy should all get together for an outing there with our Spyders.:D

nice review! i feel the same way about the scandi grind. i'm starting to favor my bhk bushcrafter over my esee-4 as my belt knife.
