I have been watching this forum for a while. I would like to get an ax(hatchet), large knife, and a small knife. Any suggestions?

Swamp Rat crash rat for the hatchet and either a game warden, active duty or meaner street for the knife!

Swamp Rat made the Crash Rat, it may or may not be what you are looking for.

The Fusion Battle Mistress is an awesome large knife, I like the combat grade, not the fatties.

Also look at the Basic 9 from Busse, the Ratweiler and Battle Rat from Swamp Rat and the Dog Father from Scrap yard.

A Game Warden, Active Duty or Meaner Street is a good small knife and pretty easy to find these days. A BATac is also easy to find but it's larger than what I would call a small knife.

Also look at the Ratmandu and HRLM from Swamp Rat and the SS4, Dumpster Mutt and Yard Keeper from Scrap yard.

You can find all of those on the exchange or at the Company store for a pretty reasonable price.

The SRKW Crash Rat is a fine Hawk. Not an axe, but a great camping/utility/CQC hawk. The Crash Rat is not INFI though, but still made of a fine steel.

A large Busse knife is the Fusion Battle Mistress (FBM) or Fat Fusion Battle Mistress (FFBM). Additionally the Steel Heart is a great large knife.

For a small knife I suggest the Game Warden.

You can pick up any of these on the Sale threads.

Easy-
Small Axe: Gransfors Bruxe (expensive) Fiskars (Cheap)
Large Knife: Busse Fusion Battle Mistress (Expensive...but well worth every penny) Busse Straight Handled Battle Mistress (Murderously expensive...but also well worth it)
Small knife: Busse Orange G-10 GW or a Active Duty (Both cheap right now)

The Battle Mistress, of any persuasion, is a very very large knife, or perhaps a small sword. You may also want to consider the Satin Jack Tac or any of the Steel Heart line if the Mistress if too large for your needs.

pbubsy's advice is spot on if the Swamp Rat Crash Axe is too much or too mission specific for your needs. Don't let the cost of the Gransfors Brux deter you, that axe or hatchet will stay with your family for generations, and it's performance will make you glad you spent the $$$.

Consider your needs before you buy a Game Warden or Active Duty. These come in several finishes and stock width. I think the thin stock (@ .14") satin finished orange G-10 Game Warden is the best for my needs in the woods, but if you're mostly working urban environments you may want 3/16 stock, or the slightly larger Active Duty which can be found in stock thicknesses of .14", .17", .19", .22"( the Heavy Duty) and even .35" (the Off Duty). Most of these you can only find in the exchange, but give the company store a try first.

One thing I found about the Miliganzaa AD's and the original HD's is that they're almost the same exact thickness. I believe the Mili AD's are about .195'' and the HD's are about .200'' at least from what I can remember. I purposely dumped my HD's when I saw that they were the same as a knife that cost less than half as much :p........the best deal on a small Busse right now is on the AD's...they've been going for around $200 which is basically cost.
