Those of you who regularly follow this forum are aware that many questions are repeated perhaps two or three times per year. That is not a problem as it allows the newer forumites to learn basic information.
However, for those who are very interested in Buck knives and who like more complete and thorough information, I would like to offer some suggestions.
First, JOIN THE BUCK COLLECTORS CLUB!!!!!!!!!
If you obtain copies of the past newsletters, I guarantee you will read and re-read them over and over. They are loaded with articles covering just about every series and/or model Buck has produced. Some of us have all of them and are willing to help you get copies where originals are no longer available.
The club newsletter has been enlarged and issue after issue contains articles by knowledgeable Buck collectors and the Buck family (Chuck, CJ and Joe Houser).
Second, for Buck fans, the 5th edition (and only the 5th edition) of Levine's Guide to Knives is the best reference book. There are articles about Buck folders, fixed blades, pre-factory and Buck Customs. There are lists of commemorative Buck knives that are helpful, if incomplete. There is also an article about my award winning display. The reason the 5th edition of LG is better for Buck fans is that certain BCC members updated and corrected some of the original articles plus it contains the "Perspectives" section near the back of the book that contains three new Buck related subjects as compared to previous editions.
Third, get a copy of Tom Ables' book, The History of Buck Knives. I believe I have the title correct. It is a wonderful resource with great pictures.
Finally, Krause is putting the finishing touches on their new version of Levine's Guide. It will be named The Blade Guide to Knives ... and the Buck sections were given a major overhaul by Joe Houser, Dick Matheny and me. I anticipate that it will be very well received by Buck afficianados.
Hope this helps everyone!!
