Looking at Antigua in the eastern Carib for possible vacation, but can't find much in the way of reliable info regarding local knife regs with regard to carry or possession.

Is there a general prohibition on the carrying of folding pocket knives? If not, what are the rules with regard to blade length, one hand or assisted opening, locking blades, and pocket clips?

Thanks in advance for any information!

SAK or similar type slipjoint folder, perhaps even a small multi-tool, would be the most practical and universally legal choice for a traveller. I have carried them on vacation abroad and foreign customs never so much as raised an eyebrow. Choose one that fits your pocket well; some are so bulky with all of the extra tools that you really need a belt case for them. A lightweight pocket model will conceal well and still have enough tools to be useful.

Good advice in general, thanks.

Looking for direct experience or knowledge of Antigua specifically though.

I went to the Antigua government website and did some digging around and found this document. Hope it helps I look some more and see if I can find anything else.

bludgeon or other offensive weapon to any
place where people are gathered for entertain-
ment or any other purpose.
(3) The proprietor or the person in charge of
any such place mentiomd in subsection (2)
shall
( a ) post up at the entrance of any such
place a notice prohibiting any per-
sonentering therein fromcanying
on his person, a knife, cutlass,
bludgeon or any offensive weapon
and the penalty for contravening
the prohibition; and
( b ) make provision for persons enter-
ing any such place to hand over for
safe custody such knife, bludgeon
or offensive weapon which they
may have in their possession.
(4) Any person whocontravenes subsection
(2) commits an offence and is liable on convic-
tion to a fine of one thousand dollars.
(5) It shall be lawful for any police officer
after identifying hlmself to search without
warrant any person entering into any such
place mentioned in subsection (2) and to seize
any knife, cutlass, bludgeon or other offensive
weapon found on such person

This is the best info I could find. The best bet is take one you dont mind losing and if they take it they take it. If they dont its one of those laws they have just to prosecute people if they ever need to throw the law at someone. I highly doubt they are going to waste your time for having your swiss army knife on you.
