Antique Asian Slipjoint ID?

My Mother just emailed me this photo of a knife she found in an antique shop, the asking price is $50. I've never seen anything like it, so I'm throwing it out here for all to see. Does anyone here know what this is?

Mods, if this belongs elsewhere please feel free to move it, I just thought I'd share with the traditional folks.

It's not a slipjoint, it's a rizutto switchblade. (not a swing guard, but a wonderful cheapie that you could of gotten over the boarder about 30 years ago)
 
Sorry Groove,no idea here,but folks are going to say that pics of the tang stamps or any other markings would help ID the mystery knife.
It looks like a type sold to tourists though.
