Got this 5 years ago from my GPa. He picked it up in an antiques shop.... It's missing the 'pommel' I guess you would call it but its a really nice knife. I was going to mirror the blade and clean up the handle but I've decided to leave it the way it is. I only wish I knew the story behind it. Lemme know what you think!

Sheath isn't original btw. Stag handle(bone?) is legit and not sure about the steel... Has a convex though! I didn't put it on so it looks to be original.

That's a nice piece. It's a common German design. I have one from the sixties/seventies which is in remarkable shape:

It's made by Linder-Messer. Yours looks notably older.

Not a custom, but still quality.

Ah I see! Well thanks for letting me know! I assumed someone made it cause it didn't have a maker on it.

it's called a Nicker
They are souther German hunting knives. The slim design is to 'nick' = kill a deer by stabbing it just under the skull (if I explain it right I am not a hunter)
Most are made in Solingen, the knive capital of Germany (like Sheffield is the English)
Traditional Lederhosen have a pocket on the side to carry the Nicker.

(try a translate program to read it)

The Linder messers are selling for alot on the bay.... Not mine but I'm keeping mine:
