antique german knife

I recently came upon an antique, fixed bladed, bone handled knife. The knife is about 4" intotal length, and the only markings are "solingen germany" is there anyone out there that may know anything about this?
A way to date, figure out manufacturer, etc?

Post pictures and we can give you more information. It sounds like one of the stag-handled hunters that were imported in large quantities after WWII, mostly in the 1950s and 1960s, but I can't even say that with any confidence without pictures.

Solingen is an area in Germany which is, at least in Europe, very well known for its steel industry and knive manufacturers. Can you post a picture?
