After reading about the recently available antique khukuris from a different source than the sponsor of this forum, I recently ordered a WWI Vintage, and am very pleased with it. If you want to learn first-hand about actual and traditional convex edges, these babies have 'em. The real surprise was - I popped for 10 "Mini Khukuri Accessory Knives" for $2 each ($20 for 10 pcs.) They are little gems in themselves. My batch random contained 8 chakmas and 2 kardas. The chakmas are all khukuri shaped and one has file teeth. Which I always wondered about. They also have forged bolsters.
I sprayed down the lot with Balistol (thanks for the tip Yvsa
) and after a couple of hours went over them with medium steel wool to get off the grime and treat the wood. (I suppose one could sand everything down and make mini-khukuris out of them... confused: ) But, they are so cool (and cheap!) as is, and each is unique and different from the others, I,m thinking about getting another $20 worth just to have 'em
Here are 2 cleaned up chakmas about 6" long: :
