I found this today for $22.00. I think it was a mismark because it is in perfect functional condition! I love the size of this knife. It is marked 6207 with 3 dots. Listed as a Mini Trapper, I would never have guessed that. This one will get alot of carry time.

Not sure that 1978 quite qualifies as an "antique" but a nice little knife nonetheless.

I ment I found it at an Anique store. I was just trying to keep the subject to one line. I should have remembered what sub-forum I was in.

Easily remedied. All you ever have to do is ask. Even if you don't remember what sub-forum you're in.

That ones seen some major pocket time...
6207 MT is one of my favorites. Not to big, not to small

Maybe not Case, but I think some knife Co.'s,refer to that as a "half trapper"
Two blades that go good together,IMO

I've found half a dozen great old knives in antique shops here locally, but so far nothing as nice as that Case. Great score.

From ehow.com:
In 1930 the United States legislature determined that an antique is anything older than 100 years. This was decided so that the customs officials could assess whether an item brought into the country qualified as an antique for duty-free import. Old things that were newer than 100 years are considered collectibles instead of antiques.

My mother used to work in a little craft co-op in Dillsboro, NC, and one of the ladies there collected old Bakelite. She & others would get in these huge debates over whether something was "antique", "vintage", "artifact", etc. It was fun to watch. :D

The guy had alot of old knives 3 or 4 times as much, however, none were in as good condition as this one. The snap on the blades is great!

The 6207 with the standard clip and pen blades in CV steel (the posted knife) is actually the predecessor to the Case "Mini Trapper".

The 6207 was in the Case product line from the pre WWII years up though the 70's continuously, made with the same tooling. I would call the 6207 a "dogleg jack".

Then in mid 1979 the original 6207 was discontinued and the the 6207 SP SSP Mini Trapper was introduced using the 6207 frame but with a slimmer "California clip" main blade and a long spay blade in stainless steel, with the main blade etched Mini Trapper.

Good point

It will get all my "non work" pocket time immediately!

Are you saying the knife I have is CV? That would be great, it's my top 2 favorite steels. I am going to scouer the matinance forum to get idias on how to bring this baby back to life. The bone Looks black. I gave it an oil bath and the black with the silver is absoluty georgous in my eyes.

In my eyes, the less "polish" you give it, the better. Oil the joints, clean any rust, and sharpen 'er, and that's it. She's already beautiful as it is.

kodiak,

You gonna clean 'er up at all? I personally love bringing good old things back to life while still leaving them looking old but taken care of. ;)

Great find!

Flitz Metal Polish will bring it back gently. It will dissolve alot of that rust. Nice find, I got a 1974 6244 in an antique shop, I paid about 36 for it. It was my best antique store find for a collectable slipjoint.

i always check those shops, in past 20 yrs. found a platts folder, may be misspelled.honey bone, coffin bolsters,95%.
marbles woodcraft,90%
knife pistol, listed in sears catalog about 1912 , 22 short
paid 26$ for knife pistol, less than 20$ for both knives
