Good afternoon guys... hope everyone had a great weekend. I just finished work on this package at 1:30am this morning. This knife is very similar to the Bog Oak Fighter that I posted a few months back, but this one has a bit of antiquing done to the blade and mild steel fittings... as well as being outfitted with a really nice piece of Redwood Burl. The blade on this knife is flat-ground very thin, and it feels quite quick.

Some Stats:
Length: 10-5/8"
Blade : 5-3/8" (Tip to choil)
Steel: 1095 (from Kelly Cupples)
Handle: Stabilized Redwood Burl (Burl Source) w/ domed mild steel pin
Fittings: mild steel with black G10 spacer

This last photo shows a bit more of the wood's personality... but I think the color is skewed a bit warm.

Beautiful knife Erin!
I will be showing off my Bog Oak version of this knife at the OKCA show this weekend.
Very sleek, feels light and nimble in hand. I love the one I got.

I really like this knife, impressive work of art! The Redwood Burl is amazing as well, it looks "alive"

Thanks guys.

Mark... in my mind, it seems like a good idea to make the trip to Eugene right up until the weekend of the show... then I think about the 5-hour drive and decide to work in my shop instead. ;)

Meier... redwood burl is fast becoming one of my go-to woods. It has some trippy chatoyance/flash that changes with movement, and can also have some very dramatic activity and coloring.

This is one of my favorite knives from you. The lines are very good. I like what you did with the fittings, too.

Thanks Salem, it's one of my favorites to date... though I pretty much say that about every new knife that I finish. I just completed a little blade with some of Mark's Karelian Birch that I'm really happy with as well. The birch is like smooth butterscotch. Once I wrap up the sheath I'll shoot some photos.
How are things 'round my old home town? Angie and I were over there a month (or so) ago for a funeral... stopped by the house where I grew up (near the cemetery on Hwy 7).

Been over 20 years... and it looks it.

Guaise... one of my favorite parts of making a knife is sitting in front of a beautiful pile of wood blocks brainstorming the best combination of wood and fittings for a given design. I usually end up with a small pile of "maybe" blocks... the ones that I imagine will work out best on a given knife... and most of the time that pile will contain at least one block of redwood. It's very cool stuff. :D

Mr. 338375... thank you much sir.
