I just finished my next blade. I wanted to antique it to look weathered. I stained the blade with mayo plus left sone lenght wise 1000 grit scratches to appear it has been used alot. Looks nice but how can I antique the brass guard and pommel? I tried the mayo on a scrap piece of brass but it seems to make it kinda shiny. I used a well weathered piece of stag but after the shaping and stuff it is now smooth. But the handle and the blade could pass but what about the shiny brass? Also what about the sheath out of new leather (all I have) to make the sheath look old? I will try to post some pics later. Cory

You need to get "Brass Black" by Birchwood Casey. It's the only thing that I know of that will create a patina on brass.
