Question;

What is the best way to antique ivory Micarta? I would prefer the butter yellow of old ivory rather than the cream color it is now.

thanks

Is your ivory micarta the new paper based material? I was told by the manufacturer (International Paper) the new paper ivory will not change color.

The Old Formula Ivory Micarta when aged would turn a little bit yellow and a little translucent. When this material was reformulated it didn't change much. I believe a few years ago they started making the old formula again; as this aging process was highly appreciated. I was given some of the old formula material that was about 40 years old; so I haven't been in the market.

I believe this yellowing, clarifying, aging what ever you want to call it with the old formula material is heat related. I've been able to recreate this aging by heating the material on the buffer. Take a small piece of your material and experiment...Ed
