This is my first post ever so go easy...

A few years back my grandpa died. He was very close to me, like a second father. I miss him dearly.
The other day, I was looking around in the shed next to his house for something, and found not what I was looking for, but instead a deer antler. I scoured all over to find it's twin, but found nothing. I realized that this particular antler had to have been a shed found somewhere in the canyon we lived in. I held the single antler in my hand wondering what to do with it when I was stricken by inspiration: I would make it into a knife. I had never made a knife before, and I was completely in the dark as to how I was going to do it, but after a purchase from a knife making kit site, a lot of terrible smell and some hard earned epoxy it was done. The product?

I left the brow tine on, because my fingers fit around it nicely and it gives a little bit of a place to grip it. Some people questioned why I did, because their hands don't fit it as well, but to be honest I don't mind if my hand is the only one that fits comfortably. It's my knife! I'm currently looking into finding it a sheathe, but for now it sits on my shelf until I do.
That's the only picture I have for right now, I'll try and get some more up soon

Very sorry about your grandfather, my grandfather is like my second father also. You did a good job, some handles may look funny in pictures but when in the hand that's what matters. Maybe look into starting your own blades from scratch. You'd enjoy it. And on sheaths, their are countless free videos out there to learn how to build them yourself. I think you'd like it more if done by you.

Almost looks like a natural subhilt, great job! Sorry about your loss. My grandpa died a couple years ago as well, I miss him so much.

Very nice for a first project. The first antler handled knife I did was made from a shed antler that I found at the base of my grandfathers grave when taking flowers there on what would have been his birthday a few months after he passed. It snowed the night before and there was just one set of deer tracks, and this antler. I will keep the knife forever even though its not my best.

Nice. Well done on your first project.
Sentiment and craft.
Have fun and do good work,
