Although it's a chinese copy it's a really cool, little knife that is pretty high quality for about $50. I ordered a g10 version of one and it never showed up (a terrible feeling to lose the knife you've been waiting for in the mail for months). I'm thinking about ordering another one cause I have given up on this one and still really want to try it out. What do you guys think? It's pretty much a spyderco techno with a flipper

Heres some pics of it:

"Counterfeit" implies the existence of a genuine production version. Malyshev never managed to get his design manufactured himself and appears to have given up on commercializing it, so this knife seems to occupy a legal grey-area shared by abandonware.

Ah. Well it seems to be sold by a site well-known for their business in "legal grey-area" knives. That's probably why I jumped to that conclusion!

Though the site calls it a Anton Malyshev Gnome. Not sure how the Mr Malyshev's name is "abandonware."

It is true that Malyshev designed it. Would it have been preferable to not even mention his name? He might not be earning royalties from the sale, but at least his name is getting out there. A person coming across the Gnome may be curious about his other work.

Malyshev designed it, Custom Knife Factory was in the process of producing it when it started showing up on Aliexpress before they even made the first one, so they dumped the design and moved on.

Shame, too, it's a neat design.

If anyone who bought the knife feels bad for Mr. Malyshev, they can always send him a cheque for whatever they think his design is worth to them.
