Hello everyone,

As this Forum has quite a few followers of Jerry Fisk's knife art,
I thought it would be interesting to display a very special camp knife
he made in 2001. He calls it "Ants" and it is a bit different
from his knives usually displayed here.

Jerry's Damascus Camp Knives always have a tremendous appeal.
"Ants" has a complicated Damascus pattern that was forged into a "W"
pattern then had a traditional Ladder pattern forged into that pattern.
The mountings are 24k gold over silver. The handle is a fossilized
artifact war club. It was found in the ground with its tip broken off,
possibly during use. Jerry kept the back-slot as it was originally made,
to fit an oosic bone. He tried to keep it as authentic as possible, with a
little saw work to touch up its shape. Ants and spiders were carved on
the handle so that they appear to be still crawling on it, in the ground.
The ants and spiders were then covered in gold foil to match the
mountings. Overall length 16" (406 mm).

This knife is one of the knives displayed in Jerry's 8 page section in
my 2nd book on modern custom knives "Art and Design in Modern
Custom Fixed-Blade Knives".

All the best,

Its a great piece. I would like to see more work like this from Jerry. It is pure art at its finest (and priced accordingly).

That is just awesome. The little bug diappearing underground is a superb touch.

Actually, Roger, the ant seems to be emerging out of the hole
in the handle........... This knife was such an amazing piece,
so different from everything else in Jerry's section, that I chose
it for the opening page.
