Hi everyone I'm fairly new to this forum. I have been making knives for a few years via stock removal and would like to start forging knives. I have been looking for a good anvil for a while but come up empty handed. Anyone in Western VA, or Roanoke area know of where I can get the goods, or knife makers that I can talk to. Thanks.

I realize my location is not quite what you were looking for, I'm in Yorktown, but send me an email and I'll try to answer your questions. You can send the email through my profile.

Also, check out Blacksmith Supply. John is in Chester, VA so it's not exactly around the corner, but he's a heck of a good guy to deal with.

There's also Dan Boone's (yes, he's related. He's Dan Boone the 4th) Pasture Party coming up on the 26th of February. It's supposed to be a great hammer-in (I haven't quite made it there yet...) and admission is free and seeing as it's a gathering of blacksmiths, there will be tools for sale ;). They ask that you bring something handmade to donate to the Iron In The Hat to help them cover expenses instead of charging admission. If you are going to attend, please call Judy Boone 540-967-3267 so that they can have a head count for how much food to have on hand.

Dan's home and shop is located at 7381 Parrish Rd, Louis VA, about 50
miles north west of Richmond VA.

There's a lot of forging related stuff that happens within a day's drive of you. PM or email me if you want a more exhaustive list.

I have no help for you with your request. I'm just posting to say "Welcome to Blade Forums!"
