Anvil correct height

I got this anvil and cast iron stand.
It’s not quite the correct height for me. Needs to come up higher about 2-3”

Any Suggestions on the best way to raise the height?
Wood underneath the anvil? Or some steel pads/posts under the cast iron base?

Thanks

This kinda depends on what your end goal is. If it's to maximize rebound, then steel pads would be the way to go, but this might make for a loud ring. Wood will deaden the noise, but also take up some of the energy from each hammer blow. But for knife making, this isn't much of an issue, as you're most likely not forging 1"+ square bars.

My end goal is to raise the height

I hadn’t considered the concerns you mentioned and then thinking about it I’m not sure of that either one matters to me

The anvil weighs about 450 pounds and the base is about 350
I’m forging mostly laminated steel which is thin

I’m wondering if plywood underneath the anvil is appropriate or needs to be some hardwood

800 pounds will not care what it is on for knifemaking. Plywood would be fine. Marine grade would be the best choice.
