Anvil Identification

My first thought: Wow, that's an OLD anvil that has seen some serious use. Looks like the older london-type pattern, swaybacked from being beat on probably with a striker.

I've only ever seen pics of an Alsop, but it does look like those.
 
I agree with the above, mr. straub. Absoutely an old English anvil of any of the various guys at the time. Anvilfire.com may help. Although its badly sadde backed i bet you can get alot done on it and flatten your blades on something else? If you arent worried about destroying the natural asthetic and the value ultimately you can have it machined.
 
very cool find looks like a mousehole anvil and a early one too I think pre civial war (US) if I remember right what they say about it not having a prichart (spelling) hole along with the hardy hole.
