Anvil research

I found my Dad's anvil. It has no info on it upon cursory examination.
It had a Capital J on one side and appears to have a weld line or mold line
in the middle of it down the back along the bottom and up the front. It has one square opening, Hardy hole? and one off-set round hole much smaller I have found nothing on the INTERNET yet. Any ideas where to look or could y'all tell from pic's??Tom
