I am visiting my sister in law in Worcester Mass and am also on al anivl hunt. Am willing to travel for a good deal. Looking for a nice 100lb or so for cheap. Also interested in getting a monster 200+ (but doubt I can afford it at this point). Does anybody know \about any good deals on anvils in this part of the country. Planing on heading back through the adonrndacs Sun and Mon, but am flexable if we get a good lead....
Thanks,
Ed

First, good luck. It's always tough, but fun. I spent some years doing this in Mass. and it's a good place, especially relative to out west. But people generally know what anvils are and that they can get at least a dollar a pound--which is still a lot better than your average Ebay buy, etc. Check the WantAdvertiser under a few headings--tools, antiques, farm, etc. Ask lots of people. Stop at any farm or machine shop that looks likely. In NY, at an ABS function, I went into a local hardware store and asked about anvils; they promtly showed me 3-4 they had under a table. You never know.

Thanks Mike. I'm headed off in the opposite direction this morning. I wish I had thought to do this post earlier, might have been able to get in touch with you. Next time I leave the Binghamton area, I'm going to post a message a few days prior. Hope you have a great 4th. I'll just have to see what we can come across bumbling through the Adirondacks......
Again thanks for replying!
