This past week I bought three anvils from an estate sale. I only need one, but the pricing ws right so I bought all three figuring that some knifemakers somewhere could probably use the other two. I know that most guys here are stock removal types, but if anyone is interested in an anvil for a fair price, here's your chance.

#1 is a 95lb Vulcan Brand. This anvil has a wrought iron body with a tool steel face. Vulcan anvils are known to be prone to chipping, and this one is representative of the brand. While it's got plenty of chipping around the edges, the face is still very useable and has good bounce. Because of the construction of Vulcans, this anvil doesn't ring and is relatively quiet when struck. A 15/16 steel ball bearing dropped from 24" bounces back to around 20". Price is $125.00 plus shipping from 93065.

#2 is a 115lb Columbia. This anvil is in very good condition with very little chipping. The face is nice and flat and the horn's in great shape as well. This is an all cast steel anvil. While the steel ball only bounces 6" when dropped from 24", the heat treat is still good on this anvil and it rings with a nice pure tone when struck. Price is $175.00 again from 93065.

The prices on these anvils is well under current market pricing, but is a bit over what I paid for them. Between the gas invested in a couple trips to look at and then return to purchase them and the wood I'll need to purchase to pack them for shipping, this is not a money maker for me, just trying to help a couple bros out. For local pick-up, knock $25.00 off either anvil. That means that you could have a real solid anvil for as little as $100.00! From the bit of research I've done, it shouldn't cost much over $50.00 to ship either one. I'd be happiest if you arrange and pay for the shipping directly but will consider any resonable requests. I accept Paypal (add 3%), cashier's check, or green money.

PM me or email me if interested.

John, I'll gladly buy the Vulcan anvil and pick it up locally. I'll shoot you an e-mail right now.

Hooray! :)

The vulcan is a cast iron body with a tool steel face. they make great anvils though.

Good on 'ya! You could have easily done a little clean-up and offered these in an ad somewhere for much more... but you stuck to it and offered them here to knifemakers at SUPER prices.

You're a good dude :)

Well, I thought one had found a new home, but after a post here and an email, I haven't heard anything from S2nd.

Both are still available pending further contact.

Sorry bout that John. Still ready with cash in hand. Just need an address and a pickup date/time :)

Well, only one left. The Vulcan is on it's way to a new home with S2ND:)

I had a nice visit with S2ND, probably talked way too much like I usually do, but all in all very much enjoyed his visit. I hope he enjoys teh anvil and makes some cool knives with it.

Now someone needs this Columbia, before I have to give in to the evil forces of ebay where I'll make some really money so some A-hole can put it in their garden to rust away as a lawn ornament.

You talk too much? Nah! You want to hear someone who talks too much, you should have met my last girlfriend: Blah blah blah shopping! Blah blah matching top! Blah blah blah highlights! ... Blech :barf: :barf: ... Two guys talking knives and tools is a whole `nother animal :D

But seriously, it was nice meeting, chatting, and checking out your work. I know I'll enjoy the Vulcan a lot better than the disc brake I was toying around with. Hopefully the Columbia won't end up as some putz's decor, but you tried. Thanks again!

P.S. I hope you weren't in any serious trouble after I left. Little misunderstandings happen.
