This past week I bought three anvils from an estate sale. I only need one, but the pricing ws right so I bought all three figuring that some knifemakers somewhere could probably use the other two. I know that most guys here are stock removal types, but if anyone is interested in an anvil for a fair price, here's your chance.
#1 is a 95lb Vulcan Brand. This anvil has a wrought iron body with a tool steel face. Vulcan anvils are known to be prone to chipping, and this one is representative of the brand. While it's got plenty of chipping around the edges, the face is still very useable and has good bounce. Because of the construction of Vulcans, this anvil doesn't ring and is relatively quiet when struck. A 15/16 steel ball bearing dropped from 24" bounces back to around 20". Price is $125.00 plus shipping from 93065.
#2 is a 115lb Columbia. This anvil is in very good condition with very little chipping. The face is nice and flat and the horn's in great shape as well. This is an all cast steel anvil. While the steel ball only bounces 6" when dropped from 24", the heat treat is still good on this anvil and it rings with a nice pure tone when struck. Price is $175.00 again from 93065.
The prices on these anvils is well under current market pricing, but is a bit over what I paid for them. Between the gas invested in a couple trips to look at and then return to purchase them and the wood I'll need to purchase to pack them for shipping, this is not a money maker for me, just trying to help a couple bros out. For local pick-up, knock $25.00 off either anvil. That means that you could have a real solid anvil for as little as $100.00! From the bit of research I've done, it shouldn't cost much over $50.00 to ship either one. I'd be happiest if you arrange and pay for the shipping directly but will consider any resonable requests. I accept Paypal (add 3%), cashier's check, or green money.
PM me or email me if interested.
