Any "Advantage"?

Is there any "advantage" to not letting a patina form naturally, or not forcing a patina on a carbon steel straight razor?

I'll never use it for shaving. I bought it to use as a patch knife when shooting one of my muzzleloaders.

If I ever decide to take up that despicable, dirty, nasty, vile, expensive ... shaving habit again, I'll get a double edged safety razor, or maybe an electric razor.

Many hollow ground straight razors are ground thin enough that even a relatively small amount of pitting or red rust could damage the blade fairly significantly, also why are you using a straight razor as a patch knife i could trade you a small drop point with an oak handle that should be perfectly useable and would be more durable(not that a patch knife needs to be super durable).
