... gun scales?

I have a set of beautiful Culina 1911 grips for one of my 1911s made from Sheffield antique linear ivory paper micarta, but they’re smooth, and I’d like to have them jigged or cut in a pattern (CNC?) for some texture.

The material is obsolete, and it’s one of my favorite materials, so I don’t want to sell.

Does anyone know of a smith or service willing to add some texture?

No, because the material is obsolete, the grip maker has no stock, and even if he did, rarely does 1911 panels anymore.

Maybe you could check with these knife makers that do most of their stuff CNC.
Look on IG for them. For example prince customs does custom milling on pistols and laser engraving.
Look at brown knives, Grimsmo, etc. to inquire about custom work. Check who they follow and you might find someone.
FYI I’m not affiliated w/ anyone mentioned.

Also check in the exchange here. Knife makers market-custom shop/services offered.

Anything you do to the old ivory Micarta will turn dark in the cuts. This material has to be polished to resist dirt. It's hard to polish in cuts.
